A recent transplant from San Francisco, Kathryn has found new inspiration in the landscape and light surrounding Petaluma,

particularly the local wetlands. Her painting process is an exploration of the sentiment or mood brought about through meditations on the environment around her.

Kathryn is interested in landscapes and how we experience something universally familiar, recognizable and essential in their depiction.

Kathryn’s past work lies more in the realm of “organic abstraction”; her past paintings resemble atmospheres in which elements are adrift or submerged in a nebulous space.

Her paintings have evolved from “internal landscapes” based on personal symbolism into abstract landscapes based on the environment in Sonoma County. Over the past year, she has sought to bring these two aspects of her painting together into these current abstracted landscapes.
